Spiral Plate Heat Exchangers
Versatile and Economical
Spiral Plate Heat Exchangers are fabricated with two parallel curved (spiral) metal plates that create extremely high turbulent flow in a true counter-current pattern. One fluid flows from the outside-in while the other flows from the inside-out. By varying the plate-gap, this design is very versatile with the ability of satisfying many applications with high-viscosity fluids and fluids with heavy, suspended solid content without clogging or requiring frequent cleaning.
The construction has the added benefit of handling extremely high thermal expansion rates created by wide temperature variations between hot and cold fluids.
Easy to Service
Designs are available with removable covers on one or both circuits to allow for trouble-free mechanical cleaning and inspection of one or both sides. A more economical all-welded ‘gasket-free’ design eliminates the compatibility issue between some fluids and limited gasket materials. This super strength, all-welded version that can handle cycling and huge temperature shock experienced with applications such as high temperature gas-to-gas, hot heat transfer oil cooling with liquid nitrogen, or heating heavy fuel oil with saturated steam.
